These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of BTop, a hosted tournament management platform operated by Mahadik Digital ("we", "us", "our") at btop.app. By signing up for, accessing, or using BTop, you agree to these Terms.
BTop is built for bar managers, league commissioners, and event hosts to run real tournaments. We try to keep this document short and readable. Where we have to use legal language, we mean it the way a normal person would read it.
1. Who can use BTop
You must be at least 18 years old to create a venue account. By signing up you confirm that you are.
"Operator" means the person or business who creates the venue account and runs tournaments. "Player" means someone competing in a tournament; players don't need accounts.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and email hello@btop.app.
You agree not to share your account, sell access to it, or impersonate another business or venue.
3. The free tier
The free tier covers single-table, single-elimination tournaments — forever, no asterisk. We don't shadow-throttle, time-bomb, or "free trial" you out of it. If we ever change what the free tier covers, you keep grandfathered access to whatever you signed up under.
4. Premium tokens
Premium tokens unlock multi-table tournaments, double elimination, race-to formats above 2, and other paid features. Tokens are sold through Stripe. Pricing is shown at checkout and on the pricing page.
- Single-tournament unlock: $9.99. Unlocks one tournament. Does not expire.
- Token packs: $79 for ten unlocks. Tokens do not expire.
Tokens are non-transferable and tied to your venue account. Refunds are at our discretion — see Section 9.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Run tournaments involving illegal gambling, illegal stakes, or anything that violates local law.
- Use BTop to harass, threaten, or defame players or other operators.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate the platform in ways that hurt service quality for other venues.
- Upload player names or content that's illegal, defamatory, or infringes copyright.
- Resell BTop access as your own product.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We'll generally email you first unless the violation is severe.
6. Player names and tournament data
You're responsible for the player names and tournament data you enter. We display tournament data on the public TV view at /tv/<your-slug> — that's a feature, not a bug, since it's how players watch the bracket. Don't enter anything you wouldn't want shown on a bar TV.
7. Intellectual property
BTop's name, logo, brand assets, code, and product are our intellectual property. You may use the BTop logo to indicate that your venue uses BTop (e.g. "Friday Night 8-Ball — Powered by BTop"). Don't claim BTop endorses your venue or that you built it.
You retain ownership of the tournament data you enter. We have a limited license to store, process, and display that data so we can run the service for you.
8. Service availability
BTop is a hosted service. We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee it. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages (Supabase, Stripe, Railway, the entire internet), and bugs happen. We post live status at btop.app/status.
If a service outage prevents you from running a tournament you've already paid to unlock, contact us — we'll extend the unlock or refund the token.
9. Refunds
Tokens are non-refundable except in these cases:
- You bought a token less than 24 hours ago and haven't used it.
- A bug on our end prevented your tournament from running and we couldn't fix it the same night.
- We screwed up something else and a refund is the right call.
Email hello@btop.app with your refund request. We'll respond within 3 business days.
10. Termination
You can delete your venue account at any time by emailing us. We delete your account data within 30 days of your request, except where we have to retain it for legal or tax reasons (e.g. Stripe transaction records).
We can suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms. We'll notify you by email unless the breach is so severe that immediate action is required.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
BTop is provided "as is". We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular tournament you have in mind. We don't warrant that the bracket engine handles every regional rule variation — if your league has unusual format rules, validate the bracket logic with a small test event before running a championship night on it.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of BTop is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost revenue, lost data, or "the night was ruined".
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we'll email registered operators at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of BTop after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Mahadik Digital is registered. Any dispute that can't be resolved by us emailing each other will be heard in the courts of that jurisdiction.
